CEREBRART - VOLITION

This CEREBRART work represents allegory of human volition.

Lightning is Zeus’s energizing power. But man’s motor power begins with cerebral volition. Many premotor and motor areas of the cerebral frontal lobe are closely associated with volition.  Giant pyramidal cells, also known as Betz cells, are the source of the axons that project to distant parts of the nervous system and send their impulses via motor cells to the muscles. Pyramidal cells have also an apical dendrite that extends towards the surface of the cerebral cortex. Epictetus declared that man’s volition is thoroughly in his power and no one, ‘not even Zeus himself has power to overcome it’.

  2. Nope - contemporary neuroscience does not leave any room for the traditional notions of "cerebral volition" and "free will." And CEREBRART should be scientifically sound!

  3. Volition is not an easy concept to grasp! As for volition and volitional brain read "The Volitional Brain: Towards a Neuroscience of Free Will" by Anthony Freeman where many conflicting views on volition are presented

  4. are those giant pyramidal cells the material substratum, that acts as a support for all the volitions? It is a pointless assumption, this is what I deny, In that case the real material substratum of the volitions would at one stroke become visible and comprehensible, as giant pyramidal cells are well-studied now. But unfortunately neither condition can be fulfilled. This cerebrart is just a theory,
